✅ SOLVED Unknown brass hook found at cellar holes

I found this, along with a bunch of other nice items (including an 1855 Seated Dime) this past weekend.

Anyone know what this is? The cellar holes are 1700-late 1800's and it is maybe 3" long.

I believe that was used to hang pictures...here is a differant one but same idea..

the tabs on back look like the went over a rod ,, i first thought they were bent like thru leather , but they look rounded over not flatened out .

My initial thought was that it was designed to hook into leather, but I don't know what they would hook onto it...
