Today was gorgeous but I wasn't going to do any detecting.

I'd just had a great Thanksgiving with my family up in Washington, and I was prepared for the longish drive back here to Portland.

But wait--what's that?!--a recent demolition with glass and bricks and dirt? >screeeeeech< (reverse.....) Hmmm...not fenced, not posted--definitely worth a look, just for a minute anyway. :D

The first thing I noticed was that the foundation of the building that was taken out was made of stone--that is pretty rare in Washington, since most buildings aren't that old. :o

BUT the lot was a huge mess with super uneven ground mixed thoroughly with a cornucopia of debris. Wood, brick, some plastic, and oh yeah, metal--LOTS of metal, so I cranked up the discrimination to the "nearly radioactive" setting and started hunting.

It was tough hunting for sure, but in one little 6' by 6' flat area (probably the only original ground in there) I pulled out this groovy old piece of trim (or something) and a sweet old Chineseish good luck token. The backwards pre-Hitler swastika tells me its pre-1940, but that is about all I know.

I would love to know more about it if anyone has any info! ;D

Hope you all are having a great holiday weekend!

Nuttin better than a "cornucopia of debris"! You big city detectorists have way more patience than I have.....that's for sure. :-\

I wish you "health, wealth, and happiness", Matt! That's a great and very cool token. :)

Very cool token! Hope it brings more luck then it did Hitler.LOL It is amazing to me how the symbol for good luck was twisted for pure evil.
