I can find no markings on this unusual silver ring. It appears to be hollow made from several pieces. The stone is purple. (amethyst? opal?) Part of the back is broken and it appears that someone tried to glue it back on.
Any idea of date, style, stone?

I can't help you on the date, but it sure loks like something that could have been on a Spanish ship & lost 100's of years ago. Nice find!

I didnt dig this. I believe it was with my Grandmothers junk.
The main part is hollow. It is at least 2 parts glued or soldered together, plus the legs.

The color of the stone, and the "cloudiness" resembles lavender jade, however the setting is not so nice and real lavender jade is not cheap....it's too light for amethyst, but could be some other lavender color crystal or even paste.

I dont remember. She died a long time ago and I kept this because I thought it was unusual. I broke one side off trying to get it on my finger. Its very clumsy, completely flat on the backside and maybe its not even a ring. :icon_scratch: I cant even get it on my little finger but I dont want to break the other side. Looking closely at it, I see the same coloring on the other side, that I thought was glue, but maybe not.

bigcypresshunter,

the more I look at it, (flat under stone), the
more I wonder if it is a ring for a finger. :icon_scratch:

Thinking it could have clamped or held onto something
else. :icon_scratch:

have a good un.

That's what I was thinking Shermanville.

It's silver, maybe it was part of a silverware set and was a napkin holder??? A wedding token or memory???

The short answer would be "glass", but for a better answer see: http://www.warmglass.com/pate_de_verre.htm

Well, I'll say it. That's one ugly ring! :D I can't help on identifying it, but who would wear such a thing? Don't mean to offend, but good grief! :o M :icon_scratch: nty

I forgot to say I believe is is a scarf tie (remember those neckerchief ties in boy scouts).
I now believe it is not a ring. I cannot even get it on my pinkie. I think its a scarf tie or napkin but it is still awful small for that.

On the small part (broken off) are the three squares hallmarks?
