Hello All,
I Headed up to the wells this morning,
I was only able to find one of them :icon_scratch:
I know the other is within 1/4 mile, I'll locate it again.
Though I haven't found a homesite, I did locate the area that was a 'trash pit',
broken skillet, iron barrel hoops, lots of bottles & pottery. saved one patent medicine bottle with measurements & odd symbol. (cleaning now, Pix later)
This well has at least 10 feet of water, so no exploring there yet, I looked at my pix from yesterday & the other well is dry, & has pine around it. good clues to its location,
it's on higher ground.
No spectacular finds, An 1886 Indian Head Cent that was dropped shortly after being circulated, my best IH so far.
2-1/2 horseshoes, I think one is from a 'riding' horse, & the wide ones are for 'draft'
horses, & other iron bits, will post the pointed item in Whatsit.
Another brass whatsit, no idea how this could be used, it is smoothly threaded from
bottom at 12mm to top at 17mm, How could this possibly thread onto its mate? :dontknow:
A lead/tin piece with iron strip, reminds me of a pocketknife :icon_scratch:
That's all for today, Best digs to all! Thanks for looking

The threaded brass item is a "oxe knob". They were screwed on a oxens horn to prevent it from finding someones intestines.

Great ID Kurt KS!
The pic tells it all. Great digs to All & thanks for your replies.
The ground is MUCH more frozen today, digging is only an option at the shore & deep leaf littered forest :P
