Hi, I was looking at the coins I found today and I noticed the "4" in 1942 looked strange. So I got the strongest magnifying glass I could find and looked at it and I can see a 1 beneath the 2 in 1942. I've tried to scan the coin and I've tried to take pics with the magnifying glass in front of the camera lens. please look at the pics, and tell me what you guys think.

Sweet! :hello2: I truly couldn't see and still can't but am very happy for you. Having a coin in hand can make all the difference in the World!

Are you sending it out? I'm not a big fan of slabbed coins in general but that is one I'd have "papered".

Congrats! :headbang: :headbang:

Update: I just got off the phone to ANACS and although my Dime is still being processed, they confirmed it has been entered into their system and is confirmed to be the overdate variety!!! I will update thie post again when the coin comes back from them. They said I should be getting it back somewhere around the 27th or 28th of this month.

Sorry it took so long to post. I can see doubling on all numbers. The 1941 is slightly lower on all locations than the current, higher-relief 1942. There is part of a 1 below the current 1, and the below the tail of the 9 as well. Great Find!

Great find, and I'm sorry for butting in, but for a 42/1, I don't think the whole date would be doubled. It was simply a case of not getting the 1 fully "erased" before they stamped a 2 into the master hub or the die, what ever the case may be. I could be wrong, by this is what my poor old drug addled (legal, of course) mind can remember.

Slabbing is the perfect way to go, but it takes some of the "charm" from "holding it in your hand".

Did this come back from ANACS yet?

Curious to see what they have to say.
