I would leave the $450 Vaquero out, since his budget was $250 more than that. Many buy the vaquero cause it's the cheapest detector with adjustable gb and has lifetime warranty. $700 can get you alot of detector these days!

True, but I believe that despite it's lower cost, the vaquero's performance is up to par with detectors almost twice it's price. Bu that definitely is true, $700 can get you an awesome detector :)

I wouldnt have picked my Vaquero over any $700 detector, had I $700 to spend. Multi-tones are extremely helpful. I bought my V for the price & warranty.

I think that it also depends on a person's hunting style. Some people can't hunt without visual or tone id, but others like having a machine with no display. However, I do think that the vaquero would be a much better machine if it offered tone id.
