I have read that article, It is a half truth, They did find remains of lime kilns around Vernal. This has lead to some confusion, as it is being confused with a site in the western desert that also included an astra and gold bearing slag. The site is now devoid of the smelters and slag and even the astra. I am fortunate to have a piece of slag from another site up North fork by "Garcia's workings. I have never found the actual smelting site as it had been scavenged in the late 1800's.

Utah is alive with 100's of years of mining history.
