I've only borrowed a detector from the local library (two actually, as their 1st was stolen) and have enjoyed the experience. Thankful this forum is here for the help. I will be exploring the forum looking/asking for advice and pointers in the future no doubt.

I noticed this was your very first post - so, Welcome Aboard! You didn't list your state (or country) in your profile. So, you might consider jumping over to Sub-Forum: Select Your Area.... for information (i.e., clubs, hunts, finds, legends, maps, etc.) directly related to your state (or country).

Thank you, yes I did. Under an old clothesline run. I'm sure I've missed plenty with my inexperience, will need to retrace my steps once I've settled in.

Welcome from North Carolina.
Thank you. Just getting started with a loaner from the library, so any tips/advice are greatly appreciated. Especially when it comes to investing in a detector. Don't want to go cheap and keep missing but don't want to over spend either.

Welcome from Eastern Ontario

Nice recovery on the buckle.

Query to help the readership regarding your future detector purchase.

Budget (What you figure what's comfortable in investing)

Main areas of interest (land/water/cellar holes/schools/parks)
Most of the newer type detectors are pretty light-yet if a person is older, or has some issues with mobility it might weigh into the answers.

Now it's like autos these detectors also they come with a lot of brand loyalty. :laughing7:

Thanks pepperj. I noticed the brand loyalty on the "choose one detector " thread. I myself would be in yards, fields, and woods I guess. Although tree roots in yards have been frustrating so couldn't imagine a woods. Weight wouldn't be an issue and unsure cost wise. Unsure if $500 is a reasonable budget
