I found a very small sterling toe ring it read like 12 - 37 if it is larger it should be higher on the end number probably 12 - 40 to 12 - 43 or higher depending on how thick it is.

That would be my guess too. Small silver would probably be in the 12-30's, the larger ones in the 12-40's. The ferrous number might be anywhere from 10-14 depending on how long the ring has been in the ground, the ground mineralization, and if there are any other targets nearby but the 12 line should be accurate on a fresh drop.
