The recent rain only began to let the mt rivers 'trickle', so I did some more (River Walking) today, it was a hot, muggy, day, but with a breeze it made it better.
I saw two snakes, a lizard, (that wouldn't pose), :laughing7: frogs, colorful leaves, roots, & a Buck knife, after a little cleaning it looks like new, that's three knives I've found in creeks & rivers.
A hunter must have laid it down while cleaning a deer & forgot it, I went on upstream & didn't find any remains, (deer or hunter)
I tried another creek, but too many hunters camped in the woods.

Thanks, they come with the territory, they weren't agressive at all, i took my walking stick & touched the black snake to get it to coil & pose, the water snake ran under a large rock to hide, so i moved it to get it's pic. ;D

It's amazing how many I have found in the woods detecting.

Thanks Mike, I found a 'paring knife' just below a bridge in the same area, people lose & discard a lot. :icon_scratch:

Cool knife, I actually found one yesterday while out looking for arrowheads at a construction site. I put it on the seat of a grader there so hopefully it will make it back to the owner. But yeah, you find one in the woods and that sucker belongs to you now. :icon_thumright:

Good pics as always Fossis! ;D

Have any luck hunting points?
I found a tool once, & returned it to the owner who was on the tractor, he gave me an arrowhead he had picked up.
Good deeds don't go unrewarded.

Much better than what I had to look at today. They say it's always deer season in Little Dixie and it pretty much was in the old days, but now it really is. You need to wear some kind of blaze orange while out there pokin around, because legal deer season draws that OKC crowd. Take care, and maybe make a bunch of racket out there.

I'll say it was, I wish we could trade parts of our weather sometimes.
I had on my blaze orange cap, (check Grafix's post on mule deer for pic).
Plus I tap my hiking stick on the rocks as i walk along to let the bears know i'me around. :P

Enjoyed my walk with you along the river beds. Colors are looking pretty plus you can keep the snakes, I know they come with the territory but I just can't handle anymore after seeing that rattler @ Uvalde.

Thanks, I have seen two black snakes, one king snake, & one water snake in two days, (no rattlers yet), they can't decide to hibernate or come out for Spring. ;D
Glad you guys & gals had a 'good hunt in Tx'.

I love that last picture Fossis! It won't be long now before those reptiles will be looking for a hidey hole for winter. I sure am glad we don't have to be on the look out for bears up here in this part of the state, but the hogs are getting so bad that we've started carrying a gun everytime we go out. Thanks so much for posting all your wonderful pictures---we really enjoy them! :hello:

Thanks, I think after the front yesterday & last night moved through they will be looking for a hole to warm in. :laughing7:
The bears slowly moved in from Ar, & the 'long tailed cats' & hogs are getting thicker too.

HH, Fossis..........
