Both coils read the same trash , olny the larger coil reads more. All you have to do is learn to SLOW DOWN with the large coil and , wa la !! you just saved 150 bucks $

thanks im a newbie and its SPRING guess im excited to be over cabin fever. the foil is driving me crazier. will follow your advice. hh take care and pray you find a LARGE CACHE. goldie

Don't know much about Garrett, but I've gone down to my 4" coil to work areas around park benches with a lot of tabs and foil. Extractor has sound advise for any detector, slow down. Another thing to think about also is if there is a ton of trash, the other guys who hunted the area before you probably gave up and left the good stuff behind for the person willing to take the time to work around the trash..
