Wax Seal Redux

I made a wax impression with the wax seal I found last weekend...she's a beauty!

Only that it probably dates to the late 1700s to the early 1800s...

Really neat making the impression of the wax seal, I would have done that right away using silly putty. LOL, Looks like Britannia on the anchor, I am not sure but I think that is to symbolize British Naval power. So perhaps an Naval stamp?

Yep...it's Brittania holding the anchor...Silly Putty...never thought of that...

I have one of those Silly Putty eggs stored with all my cleaning stuff, does come in hand for helping IDing different relics and even coins sometimes, and used it for photoographing buttons by sticking the button if the shaft is intact, into a small amount of Silly Putty to get the head on shot of the button. Also, Silly Putty is reuseable. My Grandson keeps trying to take mine, but so far I have prevailed!

LOL, I agree I like the wax also, but using silly putty to quickly ID the item is what I really am talking about, the wax he used is great and can be kept I suppose as part of the display with the seal itself.....
