Weekend Hunt: 14K

The weather was sunny and warm this weekend. I got out on Saturday with Smittyman and P@tch. We went to couple different spots... both former house sites. The good news is everyone found at least one silver coin, the better news is, I found 14K.

Here is a pic of Smittyman working the turf.



I flipped this plug over and was greeted with this, a shiny disc.



Turned out to be a '44 Merc.



A bit later, I got a 47 on the Deus... tin foil or can slaw, for sure. As soon as I got his in my hand, I knew it was neither!



National Honor Society 14K pin, intact and flawless! Only the third gold item that I have found in 4 years. The only thing better than 14K is the look on the faces of the other boys!



I found a few other things, like marbles, part of a bronze horse, Wheaties and a few lead pieces.



Gold is awesome, but so is spending time with like minded gentlemen, and enjoying the fresh air.

Well Sir, it seems appropriate that you found a national honor society 14kt pin. it is a very nice one too and I am sure that you had a very big grin when you realized what you had. A good looking pin Tom. Looks better than the ones off eBay for sure. Out of curiosity I went to the NHS website to see what one would cost new but like most stuff today, they don't make 'em like they used to. They are gold filled now.
