Sunday was a beautiful day for relic hunting and I spent about 3.5 hours at a site I have been hunting for close to 20 years. I have found a ton of stuff here - well over 200 buttons including over a dozen military, large cents, IHPs, capped bust silver and a lot more. But good signals are getting hard to come by these days,so I was happy to get what I got.

When stumbling around in a plowed field, one must keep their eyes open for these things...

It has been a above average year for a person who doesn't focus on looking for points. This is my second one in a month.

While the point was the highlight of the day, this little lock was an interesting find. It has been identified as a dog collar lock. Both sides have a dog head on a button that must have been the "key" to the lock.

Here is the group shot for my Mother's Day hunt. I was happy that 3 of the 4 buttons had something on the face, including the CW Infantry button which must have been in contact with a piece of iron for a long time.

Saturday was a cold blustery day. After doing chores and errands for most of the day, I walked up the street to the neighbor's house for a 1.5 hour hunt. The highlight was a two cent spill with the two oldest coins to come out of this yard - 1906 IHP and a 1910 Lincoln.

Those are some nice finds Steve. I like that lock, and it's always fun to pick up some arrowhead points along the way.

Thanks Thad. You are unlikely to find one on the wooded sites you hunt. There is a slim chance one might come up in a hole, or you might spot one in a washed out area or in the roots of an
uprooted
tree. Plowed fields are your best bet around here.
Nice hunt!!!
Thank you!

Thanks. I have found quite a few in plowed fields while detecting.

All true. And you can add bottle digger to that, although that's getting to be too much work at my age :laughing7:
