Saw some stellar research on Sir Frances Drake and his landing spot on an old post, couldn't refind it. Basically posters theory was that Drakes Bay and landing spot were farther up the Coast. Any help would be appreciated. Can't remember if he thought it was in upper Northern California or Oregon.

DRAKES BAY, California,
Drakes Plate Of Brass probably gone in whole, he probably wasn't there long enough to warrant a beach search.
Interesting story though
Plate was probably used as arrowheads by local tribes. Best bet would be for pieces of brass in the surrounding area. Brass would probably be thinner than the fake. Probably not too bendable, Maybe slightly malleable. Maybe 1/8 of an inch thick and hard/soft enough for a laymen to lay an inscription without the use of a heavy press.
Since all metal detectors, even the cheap ones can detect brass, this would be an interesting mass outing.
