Well, it's been a whirl wind. I've been out scouting different areas after much research and it has paid off. I also went to a home built in 1790. Unfortunately, after being there a few minutes it became obvious that dirt was moved. Spoke with the owner and he showed the extent. That saddened me. Then his neighbor rolled up on an ATV and said, "You won't find anything here, my buddies picked this place clean before they moved in." I think at that point, my heart exploded. However, I scoured the area and I found 2 spots where dirt was not moved, nor the other hunters checked. 2 silvers, buffalo, and a bunch of wheaties!

Next, I hit an older school. I checked the aerials and found a spot that looked promising. I started hitting a few signals, nothing too old. However, I started getting other things mixed in that made me pause. I found old pottery shards and a very old piece of copper. So off I hunted. Got a nice signal on the back corner, dug the plug. Nope, still in the hole. Scooped out an object that blew my mind - 1856 large cent! My second of the year.

I hit a ballfield that has been good to me and found this silver earring:

Lastly, I hit a place that I researched. Found a great looking spot from an 1869 map. Went out and was not disappointed!

The 1886 IH is a type 2 variety! I was stoked about that. Anyone have info on the Grecian Girl lid? And the merc was my first. What a week!
