Hey all,
Wickaboag here. Now it's almost end of winter here in Central Massachusetts, and I'm itching to get out there with the metal detector. First spring with it. Now, we have an inch or two of snow on the ground. Where can I hunt? I was thinking of walking along/swinging bank/in small streams?
Good idea? Bad Idea? Any other tips?
Thank you for your time!

Hi

I hunt year round and try not to let anything stop me. The water idea is good, another thing you can try is wooded areas with a lot of leaves. The debris under snow insulates the ground and keeps it from freezing thick. I was out yesterday and had no problem getting down to targets. Im sure this will help, if you stick to the water you might want to bring a scoop to avoid freezing your hands.

i live in arizona, can detect year around, but if almost everywhere you are detecting the ground is frozen, go to the woods, it takes a lot to freez that ground
