Was going through a box of things I picked up years ago when I was just starting to hun for artifacts. They were all found after a flood blew out a levy and scoured a giant hole in a field. I found a few tools, some heavily burned bone, charcoal, tons of flakes and a layer of burnt rocks.
It’s a flood plain with deep soil, so the rocks aren’t natural occurring in that spot.
What do you think? Coincidence or is it some sort of abrader? It’s sandstone I found it below any plow zones... If the field was ever cultivated it’s been in crp for as long as I’ve been around
For anybody curious it was a pretty substantial hole, they had to rebuild the levy around it.
