WHAT IS THIS? Fossil? Geode?

I could use some help here identifying this thing. It's pretty heavy, and the colors are black with a yellowish color. Maybe Agate of some type? Any ideas? Thanks DSC00074.JPG DSC00076.JPG DSC00075.JPG

Not a fossil. Looks like a geode, chalcedony (agate) outside with quartz crystals inside. Are you in northern PA? If so it was likely brought down from the north with the glaciers.

I believe what you have is a jasper nodule. I have found similar type rocks here in Montana and have cracked them open and I find the same similar orange colored center with the dark/black outer layer.

Thanks old digger. Would either of you bother to cut this thing in half? Because I'm thinking about it
