I see some pecking around those holes. Nice stone!!
 

Nice one, whatever you want to call it. We call them pitstones where we find them (OH/KY/IN) and between myself and 3 or 4 friends we have hundreds of them. Some have holes as deep as yours, some are pitted on both sides, some on one side only, and rarely they have multiple "pits." Most of the ones we find are barely pitted, some you can hardly even see the indentation so I'm not sold on the theory that they were used for cracking nuts... who knows what they were used for. I personally pick up and keep every one I have ever found because they make a nice display.
