Our house was built 150 years ago and we just started using the metal detector in the yard. We ARE REALLY enjoying it! So far we've found a 1852 3 cent coin, a straight blade and a few other awesome things. But last night we found this medallion in the back yard. We have Googled and Googled with no results. Our fingers are crossed that you guys can help us identify it! 20170614_223235.jpg

Neat find. Judging by the loop at the top I'd say probably a watch or key fob if there's no writing on it pretty tough getting a positive id as to who issued it or when.

It does seem to have a bit of age given the style of plane and open cockpit.

I am thinking it was on a piece of luggage. This was when the airlines were fairly new and flying to a destination was not mainstream. Nice find!

Welcome to Tnet.

It needs moving to What Is It Forum, to get the most attention, when talking about a full ID.

Perhaps the seller in the second reference I gave was joking when he suggested the image was that of the Spirit of St. Louis. He had to be joking since the Spirit of St. Louis had a closed cockpit; not an open cockpit as shown on the fob.

Really cool piece. Looks like it's worth a few bucks too.
