It looks like a killer rosette from a horse bridle

Maybe an emblem for a jewelry box or compact?

There used to be a connector on the back I'm almost positive that its a rosette.

I have not been to this forum in months. I wish to place this post in the proper place but am lost. forgive me but I recieved a picture from my daughter of what I believe to be a button from a uniform. She discovered it today while metal detecting in Vermont. I would appreciate any help in identifying it.

That's either one small hand or one huge button! Looks more like a rosette or buckle of some type by its size.
