I finally got to spend an afternoon with the XLT and it paid off. Not with silver, unfortunately, but five Indians and some old wheats aren't a bad day's work I guess. I started off at a cousin's house; she has a trailer on her property that sits where an older house used to. I've found silver there before, and never really completed searching so I went back. Immediately, I started finding Memorial Lincolns, not exactly my idea of a good time. I then found what was obviously a penny; whether a wheat or Indian I wasn't sure. After another wheat, I found one of those Cascarets tokens that I've found before and seen others post. The longer I went, the more my eyes drifted to an adjacent plot of ground where an old church once stood. I've spent a lot of time there, pulling old silver, Indians and wheats, and thought I'd give it another shot. Sure enough, my first signal was an Indian, then another. I followed that up with some old wheats and two more Indians. Once home, the mystery coin turned out to be an 86 Indian; the others were 83, 85, 90 and 02.
I forgot to mention this little cast iron skillet, found near the trailer. I got a half dollar signal and was disappointed at what it was; once I found the Indians I knew it would be put to good use. Now you know what to do next time you find five Indians (pennies, that is).
I put a new picture on of two of the wheats. They cleaned up like they were dropped yesterday, and were a 1919 and 1923; the picture probably doesn't do them justice.
