Non adjustable is fine for the great majority of locations. But sometimes you get into areas that have a lot of mineralization in the soil and then you need it to be adjustable. These sites are apt to be around where metal ores were mined and of course near saltwater. Many metal detectorists start out with an non adjustable machine and upgrade and move on to one with an adjustable ground balance. Some of your better finds are made with a non adjustable ground balance such as the ACE250, but the purist will always prefer an adjustable machine. If you get a lot of falsing or exteraneous noise you are probably in one of those areas where adjustable ground balance is needed. Monty
