Tried a new Baltimore City park today and soon found the soil to be entirely fill, however my first good target was a '57 quarter. IMG_8130.JPG

This quarter was less than 3 inches deep and came up almost black (did it come from water?).

I continued and began recovering deep demo debris but persisted and ended up with a 4 oz. lead weight,IMG_8140.JPG

a seal from a Canadian Gold Pennant whiskey, IMG_8131.JPG

a lead disk with the letters 'R' and 'V' stamped,IMG_8128.JPG

and a classic head half cent. The half cent is identified by the break in the obverse star pattern IMG_8139.JPG

and the line beneath CENT on the reverse.IMG_8132.JPG

I'll bet that dirt was dredged from the harbor. Nice finds!

That's some good finds wow I'd be all over that place..Good hunt nice coinage looks like the quarter cleaned up nocely

who thought all that nice stuff would come from fill dirt! that gives me some hope. there is a big fill dirt hill near me. i scoped it out and found some glass, pottery shards and bricks on the surface. definately will swing over it if i can soon. congrats!

I agree. In the past I've usually thought that fill dirt meant a 'bad' hunt.

Every bit of it. Saw the gold color and round shape.....well, you know where your mind goes.

Excellent hunt, congrats! :occasion14:
