What's up with the 250

The more time I spend trying to figure out which detector to get, there is so much controversy as to whats best, I know , different strokes for different folks , but why would you buy a machine everyone says is great , then throw more money out there and change the coils? Why not spend a little more on some thing that does what you want with out having to swap stuff out. I mean that's the advice given to a novice, you get what you pay for. ;D

Re: What's up with the 250

The stock coil is the coil that the maker sees as the best all purpose coil for the machine, but a small coil like the 4.5 sniper for the Ace 250 is for trashy areas. In trashy areas the stock coil will see the 2 pieces of trash that are under it and miss the silver dime and with the sniper coil it sees the dime and the trash.
Large coils are for depth and coverage, but the large coil will miss the gold ear ring that is close to the surface. It just depends on the hunting u want to do .The park bandit would want a sniper. The relic digger in a open field would want the large coil.

The Ace250 lives up to all of the hype.....and the multiple coils make this machine a multi-use tool!

Re: What's up with the 250

No coil does it all, just as no metal detector does it all. To compiment the ACE for getting close to fences and play equipment (where bigger coils can't get near) the sniper coil is available as an extra. For covering a large surface such as a soccer field, a larger coil is preferred, as it covers more space per swing. Also, a larger coil will generally get deeper depth.

Sometimes buying an extra coil SAVES you the money of NOT buying a another metal detector which will do the same as the machine you just purchased another coil for.....

Most people who metal detect often, have several metal detectors and several different coils to co,pliment theirmachines.

Now you know the rest of the story. :icon_sunny:

Let me get this straight..You bought a basic automobile? Small engine? Three speed standard transmission? No radio?
Or did you buy some x-tra goodies for it?
