while I can normally identify old tools an such...this one is a first?
rose wood handles, 11+ inches closed...opened, it forms a rough 2 3/16th square.
solid brass, nickel plated.

there are no wear patterns inside the square...
if it is a nut cracker...I don't wanna meet the nuts...
no wear pattern for opening a round object.
the wear patterns on the handles suggest much use...inside the square, all the plating is gone...yet, no definitive wear pattern...

yes, it is in fantastic shape...I went over it with a loupe, no markings at all...
