where's the bigger gold

hello all, Im a newby here and just started prospecting with my family 2 years ago, considering im digging in new England, I have found mostly flour gold, I was just wondering where the better places to dig are I have dug in inside corners, behind big boulders, sand bars and never seem to find more than just color or few flakes, i keep thinking wheres there is small flour there has to be bigger gold right ? only thing I haven't done is just plain start digging in the middle of a stream is that even worth it or am i just in an area where its just plain flour and thats it. my best day so far was about 40 specs. But sure is a good way to beat the heat and play with the kids in the streams, thanks for any and all replies
John

Red is right, that being said the larger gold can be in the middle of the stream and is deeper than the flour gold. The gold will settle deeper and deeper until it hits something hard like bedrock (ledge).
Keep at it and good finds will follow!

On the east coast, Georgia, Virginia and the Carolinas. In the New England states, I think your doing pretty good if your finding fines and flakes as it's primarily glacial deposits. Keep at it, sounds like your into the gold:icon_thumright:.

Hope you have a great time panning here in CO. Share details of your trip and you may find some locals able to take you to good spots!

...or if you want to be able to use a dredge or gold cube for a day, contact my friend Don at Goldstrike Adventures https://sites.google.com/site/coloradogoldexperience/ A great guy with great gear, skills and knowledge of where the best gold is around here. (I get nothing from referring him except the smile you'll get while prospecting)

Its out there in the river! There is bigger gold in newengland. Dare i say Bigger than out west in some cases! Its deep. The Appalachians are very old mountains. The big stuff is old grandaddy nugs. Smooth and worn. Little of the coarse crystalline stuff out here. Keep hunting. I cant post pics rite now but i have i pic of a flat nugget almost the size of a penny that a kid 15 feet from me found.
