The Cortes ID groups copper pennies, dimes, quarters, halves & dollars together in the 95 ID. The screen info on Cortes is several lines so if your eyesight is less than perfect, possible problem. The Tesoro Cortes and the Deleon have the same depth, but Deleon has a few less features and a bigger ID & depth reading as less info is displayed.

The Deleon is about 3 lbs so a bit lighter than the XL Pro. Uses 8 AAs. The Cortes does not have tone ID in the search mode, you have to switch it over to tone mode when pinpointing for a more accurate ID.

Like with most detectors, depth varies greatly with soil. In the field tests, one reviwer was pleased to get a 6" deep Mercury dime using the Cortes, and the other reviewer was pleased to get an 11" deep Liberty Seated half dime with the Deleon. But they get the same depth when used in the same place.

In bad soil, I read the Tesoros give everything deep a 95 ID. But the XL Pro IDed everything deep in my bad soil as dollar. HH, George (MN)
