Saturday looks like the only day I'll get out this weekend. It is supposed to rain all day Sunday.
I tried to stir up a few more older coins by returning to the spot that gave up the 1793 1/2 penny last week.
It was four hours of digging clad, brass scrap, and trash, before a silver coin surfaced. I didn't exactly know
what it was but it had that distinct silver shine when it came out of the ground. I looked it up when I got home.
It is a 1944, 25 cent piece from the Netherlands. Queen Wilhelmina I graces the obverse and the date and
denomination is on the reverse. Really nice coin,, I like the reverse best and it looks mint. It is about
the size of a U.S. Nickel and has a silver content of 64%.
It's always nice to come home with silver.
The buttons came in like silver and I think they may be plated.
