Found 03092007. The dime is the absolute most WORN dime I have ever found. It is seated so it counts! Cant even read the date or the back! Also found with the three following bullets and a fat IH (cant read the date on that either) I live in Kansas so we dont find many old bullets. I have found about 20-3 ringers and havent seen anything like these three bullets. Does anyone know anything about them? The base of all three are solid. Thanks.

i believe the center bullet is a Remington .36 caliber "tear drop" bullet that was used by the Confederates

bullets are all c/w ..1 on the end looks to be a sharps carbine, middle is teardrop as stated, and the 1st one may also be a type of sharps....nice lead.i think they may all be
confederate.

Nice finds and all looked dropped! You have a pistol .36 cal teardrop, a ringtail sharps, and it looks like your garden variety minie but hard to tell from that pic.

Nice finds! looks like the bullet on left might be a merril carbine? The middle a 36 caliber Remington, and the last might be worth the most, ringtail sharps possibly. Tsgman

Hi RebelLT!!

Nice finds! You ever find any other Seated Liberty coins in Kansas?! I've been detecting in Oregon for over 13 years now, and I've olny found one seated liberty coin ~ on super bowl Sunday of this year I found a 1868-S Half Dime.

Where about in Kansas are you?! My wife & I took a trip there last Sept. We flew into Hays (Ellis County), but spent more time south of there in Rush county. My relatives live in the small town of Liebenthal. I did some detecting there ~ but didn't find too much ~ a couple silver Roosevelt dimes from the 60's and a few wheat cents. I didn't feel like my White's XLT liked the ground conditions there ~ I didn't feel like it was detecting very deep. While we were there we took a road trip to Lebanon Kansas to see the "center" of the US ~ and then we drove into Red Cloud Nebraska to eat lunch and I detected at a public park there (just found some clad there). The worst thing about the trip was that the town of Hays doesn't allow any metal detecting in any of their parks!

Take care!
Neil

ODDCOINS…..Small world. My mother’s family, Wolfe, is from around Hays and I grew up “out there”. I now live in southeast Kansas, near Pittsburg in Crawford County. Old mining country here. Hundreds of old mining camps and towns. Most of the development here was in the late 1800’s or early 1900’s. I find tons of silver, mostly turn of the century or later coins, though occasionally I do find seated coins. This area also had activity and battles during the civil war. North of here is Fort Scott and the old fort that was there. I have 13 seated dimes, one half dime, and I quarter. The area that I found the bullets and the seated dime the other day was near Fort Scott in Bourbon County. I suspect that the area held confederate POW’s at one time. I read in a history book long ago that a “General Price” and his army had entered into Kansas, where captured, and taken to Fort Scott as prisoners. All of the bullets that I have found at this site were dropped, and confederate from what I’ve been told, so I think logically this might have been a site where they were disarmed or possibly kept as prisoners.
