got out with the ole Sniffster today.day started off rough, couldn't find a couple sites.back to drawing board we finally found one deep into the woods.if ya didn't know what to look for anyone could have easily walked right by this hole.barely room to swing but, near edge of old dirt road in front of cellar hole got a nice button type signal, dig down...cloaker cool! rub a lil and see the sunburst :o
no freakin way! my 3rd 1789 George Washington Inaugural Button! no shank but the detail is amazing i think for it's age and being in the ground all these years.
at this 1720 home i dug a flat button.most of gold gilt still intact both sides, a ring which seems to be some 1940's-50's tv show item(please chime in if anyone can identify it ) and a silver plated pewter mashed flat napkin ring? with the name ADIN engraved into it and decorative flowers going around it.
what a day!

Congrats on the Trifecta. Would love to be part of any GW button club.
Was thinking on the same lines as Sentinel on this-what state has had the most GW buttons pop up? i would assume that it would be in the more populated colonial states such as CT, PA, NJ,etc. Does anyone know if they have been found in all of the original 13 colonies? I am in SC and dont know of any off the top of my head-would definitely be in the Low Country like Charleston.
Just curious.

thanks guys for the banner votes.don't think it's gonna make it up there as there is already one up there :-[ anyways most of the GW's were made in Ct & Ma by button makers during that time.i'm sure they circulated throughout the original 13. Just think of how many detectorists are not members of internet forums and do not post their finds. so,i'm sure they have been found in all the 13 colonies just not advertised by whoever dug them.

G.W. buttons have been dug in all....... 14 colonies ;D I got one here in Vermont.

Way to go on button #3 !!! Three different varieties too! Keep diggin' and postin' :icon_thumleft: I cant wait to see what is next :notworthy:

Very cool find and in pretty good shape it's a shame the shank is broken.Quite an awesome rush pulling that out of the ground. Since you hoped that I would find my 4th button;I have to return the favor. I'm looking forward to see you pull another from that site or other sites. 3 different varieties is just awesome;Good luck! I would like to see that up top;never get tired of seeing them. BANNER!!!!

According to the people that mentioned banner I counted 15 votes and who knows how many more. I think it takes only 10 votes, but could be wrong. Might take a little while to get up there. I found 2 the other day within 5 minutes of one another and didn't see them put them up with my 1st button on the banner;maybe because it's possible that the whole coat laid there at one time. It definitely would be easier to find multiple buttons in my situation if the whole coat was there.

a certain amount of votes doesn't automatically mean it will go on the banner.it's the moderators decision to put it up there.so,i'm assuming since one is up there ours will never make the banner.that's ok,they work hard and i'm sure they get flooded with amazing finds votes for banner nominations.
what's important is that they are no longer corrroding away in the ground and proudly displayed for future generations to see.congrats to you on your G.W's!

I didn't know the moderators made the decision. My 1st button is the one up on the banner. Anyhow finding something like we've found might not happen again the rest of the year;or there might be 5 more found;who knows. I guess it so cool, because it represents G.W.

Sorry about the 10 votes thing I don't know where I dreamed that up at. :dontknow: I just read the criteria for making the banner.
