The ground thawed today just enough for a trip out to try to get a little something to kick off the new year. Hit a field where an old homestead once existed and I have had some luck previously. Abut an hour in I hit what I was sure was a coin and was even more sure when it popped into view (about the size of a quarter, just slightly larger), then I saw the obverse image shown below and knew it was something different. My early online searches seem to indicate it is an infantry collar device from World War I. All I know for sure is I am glad I took a chance to run the detector today, it was worth the extra effort of hacking through the semi-frozen ground.

Any additional input on what I might have here is greatly appreciated and welcomed. Thanks for looking!
