Cold called a farmhouse built in the 1860s this morning. Man are farmhouses full of trash!!! Not a single old coin. Out of frustration I was digging even slight indications of high tones. I'm still using the stock coil on my at pro but with this amount of junk I doubt the 5x8 would be that much of an improvement

Anywho.... I dug this up and wore it the rest of my hunt. When I got home and googled it there's the exact ring on some other forum. The guy was suggesting that it was somehow related to the Wehrmacht? West Front is written in English though. Anyone have any ideas? It's marked 800 in the inside so this is my second silver ring!

Very nice ring. I don't wear jewelry, but would consider that one!

Who called me? Looks like you found my long missed ring! :hello2:

This ring is probably WWI related as from the design of the Iron Cross. German of course.

Wow! Thanks. So that confirms it. The cross on the ring has a "W" in it below a crown just like the article said they were in WWI. Now just to find out if there was a certain American group that wore these. ( probably not German ring because of the English western front)

that's pretty cool. what I don't understand though, is if this was something meant for a German soldier or veteran, why are the words in English?

Probably definitely a ww1 US veteran. When you google " World War One veteran ring" there's a lot log variations of this on there

Jewelerguy - I just had to laugh , your question is like mine in reverse - I'm wondering if this is for a U.S. veteran, why so prominently display
the "iron cross" ? yes they were fighting the Germans - but West Front identifies the locale - why not put "Old Glory" on there ???

That's what's so odd. It's like an Iraqi freedom vet wearing a ring that had Some middle eastern extremist group emblem. Of all the rings I have seen by searching I haven't found any with English on it. Normally just "1914" or nothing at all

Love the ring and I would wear it too. I just told my wife about this and tried to show her a pic and she said why would you want to find that you never sell anything you find anyway. Lol she doesn't get it.

that's what is really odd to me. given the patriotism displayed during the war, it would seem that an American veteran wearing this could be seen by some as displaying sympathy for the Germans
