I'd love to find any of these items in 2018, which have eluded me in my 5 years of detecting (no particular order):

1) Any dollar coin. Not one of those tiny things, but a REAL dollar coin. Even an Eisenhower dollar would make me happy!

2) Kennedy half dollar. I found a walking liberty half a couple of years ago, but never found a Kennedy half dollar.

3) Crotal bell. I've found 2 Conestoga bells and 2 cowbells, but zero crotal bells.

4) Gold coin. Probably not gonna happen, but you never know.

5) Rev War "USA" button.

6) 1600's tree shilling. I'm not fussy, it can be a pine tree, oak tree or even a willow tree shilling!

7) Rhode Island Civil War button.

8) 1793 chain cent. Can't beat finding the first coin ever minted by the U.S. Mint.

9) 1700's cannonball. I've run into a few people who claim to have found them in my area. They're post-Rev War, but still an amazing find.

10) Seated dime. I found an 1853 half dime, but never a seated dime.

My goals are to dig more than last year, find some new permissions and share a few old ones.
I will be happy with any relic I find but would really love a breast plate this year.
Good luck to all in the year to come.

Hmmm? First thing for me personally is to get my act together and become disciplined and organized with the finds I recover, period. Having viewed many amazing year end tallies from other T-net members has me "convicted" in my spirit about the many piles of pretty cool finds I have been gathering up for several seasons and NOT properly organizing and putting them away where I can actually FIND THEM! I am too embarrassed to show ya'll what I mean but, suffice it to say my home is a cluttered mess of coins, relics, and various recoveries crowding out every available flat and level surface I have.:nono::stop:

My best intentions to clean up this mess are usually interrupted with hunting or spending too much time sitting here in front of my computer viewing all the cool stuff other folks are still digging. So I will end here and head back into my kitchen and see if I can reclaim some flat surfaces and locate some of my 2017 finds from the piles of stuff I have drug home this year. Hopefully I will make enough progress to post my own 2017 Best Of Finds. I owe many of you a debt of gratitude as your collective influence on my treasure hunting strategies has caused me to take a significant change of direction.

This is perhaps my best season ever for notching off Bucket List items and scoring some of my best recoveries in the nine years I have been metal detecting. Thanks for the post scrappy. Much respect for the year you had and your influence on many of us T-netters. If I ever do regain some sense of organization with my "STUFF" I would like to continue notching off more Bucket List US coins for starters. After that recovering the oldest and most historic relics or coins my area can cough up is where my heart lies. Learning how to access the internet to locate old spots of activity in my area will be key. Gaining access to more spots in my immediate area through new permissions is a HIGH priority as well. Have a great 2018 mate.:icon_thumright:

Same detecting goal for the last ten years - the elusive, impossible for me to find, silver quarter. Lots of great finds and luck, but no quarter. Hoping that 2018 will the THE year.

A silver dollar would be nice (It's gotten so dusty it's turning to dirt so I'd be digging it out of bucket list of wants-been wishing for 50yrs now)
A piece of trade silver.
A large trade axe.
Old silver pre 1840 would be nice.
Better military buttons.
