I have found some simple mods to my 30" miner that might be helpful to anyone who cares. First is to take a string level and glue it to the side at 5 degrees to help get the sluice close when starting, then fine tune from there. The other is to attach a piece of carpet protector (available at any hardware store) using a 1" piece of aluminum strap at the front of bottom. This seals off the bottom and with the use of a couple well placed rocks will anchor the sluice. The pic below shows my sluice sitting on some bedrock in swift water w/o any rock anchors. Sorry about the finger.

The carpet protector is clear but visible in front of the sluice. Also the level is the yellow thing on far side of sluice. These help me just thought I'd share.

Ya quit giving us the finger.... Looks like a great mod. What did you use to attach the alum strip to the BGT? Can you take a pic of it out of water?

I used drywall screws. They protrude 1 1/2 " into the lower chamber. An advantage to that is they can catch leaves and such from clogging the tubes. I would also spend the money and get the thicker more flexible rubber carpet protector.
