What happened to the metal detecting group? I'm looking for one in the area.

I've been looking into metal detecting on and off for the past few years. I used to have a whites when I was a kid and had a lot of fun with it. So, I broke down and bought a Tesoro Outlaw. Today was the first day I took it out. I pulled $5.25 in clad, some type of charm (i dont think it's silver) and a buffalo nickel from golden gate park today. I found more quarters in 30 minutes today than I ever found as a kid and I was really happy with the buffalo nickel.
A lot of the coins are corroded red and some black. What do you use to clean the coins?
