I dug my first Chinese Cash Coin!!!! Found it at the same property I dug all my latest goodies...was about 7" deep next to a stone wall.

I'm trying to date it...and having trouble! If anyone has any information, please let me know. It seems to date to the Ch'ien Lung Dynasty if you go by the two symbols on the reverse, 1736-1795. But I cannot find any coins that match the four front symbols.

Either way, it's a cool find!

HH, Hank

Nice one!

I like the cash coins... they are fun !

Some may be, but most of 'em are worth much because they made so many of them.

Hope you find more !

found one Similiar, There is a link on this page somewhere that will show all, just have to search... nice find!

Nice old coin xlt nh :icon_sunny:

Found my first cash coin earlier this year Sheng Tsu, K'ang Hsi (1662-1722), which is very similar to yours.

Added: I see the 2nd coin posted is different

Thanks! I put the smaller pic up as an example only...the back is the same but the front is different. I had to do some serious searching to find the match to be able to date it.

Best part is...i was able to learn something new by digging this 'little treasure'... :icon_thumleft:

Hikeinmntns on here is the Cache Coin Guru,he was so kind as to I.D. a whole bunch of mine.....even found that a couple were quite rare and valuable!

Post a better 1st picture and place it in What Is It? forum (good links in threads for ID on cash coins).

Hey! Good find. That's a Ren Zong, 1796-1820, and the mint is Board of Works. Nothing expensive about the coin, but a
fine find, whatever. Way to go!!!

Hey Kuger, How's it going? Found anymore Chinese coins lately? I've found a few here, but nothing to get up in the middle of the night about. Let me know when you have a few more coins to i.d. Haven' been out much this summer....been avoiding the snakes, the killer wasps, and the wild pigs.....boy, hunting in Korea is getting interesting!! :laughing7:

these coins were actually in normal circulation and usage until around 1920 I believe .....image using a flowing hair large cent to buy a loaf of bread in 1920...probably did happen....I see an occasional injun popping up in change every now and again....
