Today I had this feeling, I don´t know if you have experienced it, you hold your breath and the small hairs on the back of your neck rise and you get goosebumps !

I was searching my newly found place from the Iron age. Many brooches and other finds have come from this place during the last two weeks. The finds reach from the Roman Iron Age about 100 AD to the early Viking Age about 800 AD.

I had a very good signal with my Vaquero and picked up a smal item full of dirt.

Dad & I went out today expecting a few Roman Coins as I had decided to carry on from where I had the Roman Silver last week. On the very first run after 5 minutes & 3 digs into the hunt, out pops a Silver Ingot. I look at it & immediately think Viking, but hold on a second we are on the edge of a Roman site So I begin convincing myself it must be Roman but might be Viking After some quick research I found the following:

Last week, in anticipation of my friend Rob a.k.a. RTDE 3 coming down to dig with me, I went out to reconnoiter some sites for us to hit during the weekend. I decided to check out a site that I have permission to hunt but that I hadn't been to since last summer. This was the site that produced alot of nice finds for me including the King Rama V Copper and the last time I had been there was probably last August when I took my friend and diggin' partner Jeff a.k.a. UMRGolf. I had permission to hit both the front and back yards but since the back was very grown up we never really were able to...

I dug this servant slave tag on May 8th at a plantation in South Carolina. The tag was folded over when I dug it, so I had it straightened by a professional. My friend Mark was with me when I dug it and had recovered his own servant tag, an 1811 servant, the week before at this same place.
This 1817 dated tag is an early date for the slave hire badges, since the earliest known date on any tag is the year 1800. The number 67 is the issue sequence for the occupation of servant which the city of Charleston, S.C. issued during that calender year. Thanks for looking!

Today I headed back to the early 1800’s stone chimney property that I’ve been detecting at. I was only there about 5 minutes and got a somewhat iffy signal. After digging through some roots and pulling out a square nail and a Mason jar lid, there was still a signal. I reached my hand into the hole and worked the find around some roots. Today, Jeff and I decided to head back down to one of my old honey holes that I've been digging at on and off for the last couple of years, the same one that Jeff dug the stellar 1861 Half Dime at a few days ago. As I told him the other day, "there's still more stuff in here to be found" well we found out just how true that was AGAIN today! After a couple hours of digging we wandered into one of the areas that use to be an old colonial homesite on the top of a hill and we began to get the nice iron signals all over. We only now had 3 hours of sunlight left & we moved to a site that Land-Mag had researched & I had spotted on google earth, I remember the day I sent him to the area to field walk pottery & I got an excited call saying his pockets were over flowing. Ever since then, I couldn't wait to try it. I studied aerials again last night & walked quickly into the huge field using large trees as bearing, I stopped short of where I wanted to pick up a pot shard. That was all I needed, on with the machine, & without a lie, second sweap a Roman coin

What's up guys Just got back from a visit to see my mother, and brothers and sister down in South Carolina. While there, I did some research and found an old Confederate camp that was used to hold Yankee prisoners for about six months. The place is near my parents property and is overgrown with brush and woods now. On Friday I went out there to look around very late in the afternoon.
