06/02 Beach Gold & Silver

Myself and hunting pal Tony headed out and hit the beach this evening. Water chock full of hunters when we arrived, was thinking to self -- "Self, it's going to be tough tonight" ... and it was ... Thankfully the surf gods smiled upon me once again and managed to muster up some decent goods.

Tally for me tonight:

18k Gold (acid tested) ring - 4.0 g
10k Gold Earring - 3.5 g
Silver Earring - 2.5 g
Silver Necklace with Silver Pendant - 8.0 g

Beautiful night to be on the water -- Even witnessed a meteor shooting across the sky.

Happy Hunting!

Re: 06/02 Beach Gold & Silver

I could be wrong but my bet is SS and not 18K. Nice hunt irregardless.

Re: 06/02 Beach Gold & Silver

the water is full of hunters because somebody went on TV and said they found 76 rings at clearwater beach in just a short time! now all your posts say how the beach is so loaded with hunters.......gee wonder why?

good luck and happy hunting! :icon_thumright:

DG, you are one of my detecting Heros! :headbang: :hello2:

Re: 06/02 Beach Gold & Silver

Nice going, does Tony ever find anything?

Isn't it a shame that we have to start night hunting to beat the crowd of hunters, and from your post, the crowd of hunters are now hunting at night as well. Maybe they hunt at night for the free parking ;D You won't have to worry about me being in the night hunter crowd, I want to see what's in the water with me.

No - he went on the local TV and did that for himself....i`ve been hunting there since 1984 when i got my 1st detector and never saw so many hunters since the weekend after his TV appearance.

WHAT!?!?! I guess people don't remember the phrase from their military days "Loose Lips, Sink Ships" It's as bad down here and nobody has been on TV.

hey guru

If your going to call someone out, it's best to do so in an educated fashion armed with the facts. At no point and time did I ever state where I was hunting and or speak to the volume of finds I make. That was done by the reporter, whom might I add was specifically told not to make mention of.

For the record, CWB is but one of the MANY beaches I hunt. But thanks for playing, and have a better day!

SS was my first guess as well. Acid 22k left, 18k stayed - SS should be consistent stay on all -- but its going to shop today anyway for the professional review for good measure. That, along with its minimal weight, has me curious.

Ray hunts more often than I do and also tends to post more frequently. However, for the record, yes I do find plenty.

:occasion14:

Although last night my pickings were admittedly slim - one stainless steel bracelet and some clad.

HH!

PS - Most of the loot in these pictures did not come from CWB.

Another nice day :icon_thumright: and that's one heck of a collection for Tony. :notworthy: :notworthy: :notworthy:

Re: 06/02 Beach Gold & Silver

Good hunt Dew....let us know about the ring, I also found one with no markings, acid tested 18k but not 22k, mine has some yellow tint so figured was gold showing thru. It buffed back to shineing white on the buffer. Someone told me it could be palladium.

Re: 06/02 Beach Gold & Silver

Update on the ring: It's Aluminum LOL! The jeweler was even baffled to start with -- Even went as far as cutting it and then taking the torch to it for final confirmation.

Re: 06/02 Beach Gold & Silver

As always you do real good. If it isn't 18KT. no problem, it's the hunt that counts.

Re: 06/02 Beach Gold & Silver

Sorry to hear that but at least now you know for sure. Question...if you walked into a "cash for gold" place with an unstamped SS or aluminum band that they acid test to 18K, would they buy it as 18K? Are the buyers savy enough to recognize SS or aluminum w/o a stamp when a jeweler has to go to such extremes for identification?

Re: 06/02 Beach Gold & Silver

DewGuru knows what he is doing......Its not the beach you hunt, its knowing how to hunt the beach. Keep em coming Dew.
