Today I found my 1,000th silver coin (been roughly 18 months). Want to roll out the 'ole guessing game. The easier game, what do you think the 1,000th silver was? Hint: Came from a box of Halves. The much, much more challenging game - who wants to guess at the breakdown of all 1,000 silver coins? Hint: They come from all denominations. I know it worse than impossible to get the 2nd one right.

Thanks

Congrats on finding 1000. I'll guess #1000 was a '64 Ken. I wouldn't really know what to guess on the 2nd question. Im not sure what my overall total silver finds are but with a little luck Im hoping to find my 500th silver find of the year in the next few weeks (I think Im at 465 now).

H$H!

#1,000 was a 1967 ken. The breakdown of 1,000 silver coins are:
28 war nickels
49 silver dimes
98 90% halves
825 40%

congrats!!

I will guess that your 1000th silver was a 1968d since they have the highest mintage of the 40%ers. For the breakdown of the 1000 I will guess 32 war nickels, 150 dimes, 25 quarters, 518 40%ers, and 275 90%ers.

1965

-------------------------------------
just keep stacking, just keep stacking, stacking stacking stacking

Since my first 2 guesses are taken, I'm gonna say it was a 69D.

My 1000th silver was a '60D BU Benji. I am sitting on #1992 right now and hope to get 8 silvers on Fri from my 2 boxes of halves to put me over the top.

Congrats on your milestone! I love this friggin hobby.

Congrats on the 1000th! I will guess that it's a dirty '66.

I have no idea what the break down is, but I congratulate you on the milestone.

Since I hit my yearly goal on a Ben I will say a 1963 Ben!
War 22
Dime 87
Quarter 3
40% 653
90% 235
Congrats on milestone.....

Im going to guess it was a 1893 Columbian Exposition commemorative Half.

as for the second question
War- 50
Dime 250
40%-500
90%-200

An 1893 Columbian Expo and silver Canadian half are both firsts I found this year as well as two of my best finds of the year too.

Man< i would LOVE to find a Colombian Half

Somebody else on here found an 1893 Columbian expo commem rev ender in nicer condition than mine just a day or two after I found mine. Its posted on the ender finds thread back in mid April of this year.

For totals I'll guess....:icon_scratch:

4 quarters
264 dimes
72 nickels
86 x 90% halves
574 x 40% halves

:dontknow:

RustyCloud is the closest - the 1,000th silver was a '54 Obverse Bender. The box had 5 Ben's, a Walker, 3 40%, 2 '87's, a Balboa, a proof and a magician's coin. Overall a very cool box. Every who guessed '64 should know that for some reason I don't find those.

For the overall breakdown....

1 40% IKE
1 '82-D Washington commemorative half
75 '64 Kennedy's
1 modern 90% proof
781 'regular' 40% halves
3 BU '76 silver halves
1 1970-D half
1 1970-S half
21 Franklins
18 Walkers
1 80% Canadian half
6 Washington quarters
49 FDR Dimes
4 Mercury Dimes
1 AG Canadian (80%)
49 War Nickels

The numbers might not add up exactly as I may be double counting some of the 70's, 76's and modern proofs. BuffaloBoy and SilverFace were both in the right ballpark on the total.

Thanks everyone for looking and playing.

And for those of you who are paranoid of the IRS, please know that I spent everyone of these coins right after I found them. That's right, I'm a catch-and-release CRH'er.

My first thought was a Ben but I went with a '64 Ken as my guess. I think I remember you stating you don't usually find more than one '64 per box but finding 75 of them is a pretty decent total. I couldn't remember how much you searched dimes so I was way off on the dime totals. Congrats on all the nice finds and that great box you found your 1000th silver.

HSH!

This year, all MWR's totaled together, I've found more pre-Kennedy halves than '64 Ken's. You read that right, out of my last ~100 boxes I'm more likely to find a Walker or a Ben than a '64 Ken.

A couple other notes
Best Box - 31
Best Bag - 32
Best Single Roll - 34

Most Walkers - 5 in a single CWR
Most Franklins - 5 in a box
Most '64 - 3 in a box included really nice '64 D/D
Most Dimes - 4 in a roll, 3 BU '46's and a BU '64
Most Nickels - 2 each in a roll, Buff's and Wars

Oldest half - 1918 (twice)
Oldest quarter - 1951
Oldest Dime - 1939
Oldest Nickel - 1920
Oldest Penny - 1902 - we also have a pre 1864 IHP but can't get a date off of it

None of this counts probably ~25 silvers found in coinstars, in change or while dumping.
