Thought I was going to have a cold but nice day to hit a even more popular spot of mine. I found a few Wheats and some clad and just wasn’t feeling it. I mean I can handle the cold but the wind blows. And it was blowing right through me. Anyway I toughed it out for a little bit longer and bingo! A little shine in the dirt showed. I hope this is good sign for the new year. I found a few other pieces that maybe someone can ID. 1 looks like a shotgun shell head but it’s iron. Was iron ever used? Also some kind a hook thingy made of brass and painted green. Any ideas? No biggy. Just curious. Thanks.

The ornate brass hook thingy is way cool mate. I believe the "green" is the patina from resting in some nice dirt for over 100 years. I love old green patina brass thingies. That airplane thingy is really cool too. Did you dig that as well? No idea on the rusty "iron" head stamp. I have never found an iron one to my knowledge. Silver Rosie for the win. Nice hunt for sure.:hello:

The brass object with the two screw holes looks like it may have been used to open jars or bottle caps?? Or maybe a place to hang your keyring.
The airplane thing looks like a miniature German buzz bomb. The drilled iron cap may have been a coaster for a table or chair leg?? Well that's it,, may be a little food for thought.
Congratulations on a nice hunt.

I really like the airplane item, really do. Any idea what's it made of?

Congratualtions on the nice relic hunt! :occasion14:

I bet that plane hit hard on the pro!

The plane fuselage is definitely in the style of a WW2 fighter aircraft. It probably has a screw hole under the cockpit for the wings to be attached? (Go find them!!!!) It appears to be modeled after a F4U Corsair but has three prop blades instead of four. It may be along the lines of a Fockewulf fw 190 also. What a cool find! Sub 8-)

Maybe part of a vintage ash tray or just a paperweight played with by a child!

I like ATW's idea on the Brass item. Looks like it was to be mounted on the wall as an opener or a hook to hang things on. You can see it is bent in the downward position. If it were straight it would be a good hook.

Thanks. I actually found the airplane the day before. It is made of brass. It’s almost solid. It has no markings as to its origins. I figure it was used as a paper weight or some decorative desk piece. But it is an airplane from WWII. That means it’s only as old as that. It is pretty cool though. I would like to get back over there to see if I can find more of it. That is as soon as the weather warms a tad......Brrrrrr.

The fancy brass piece might be part of a sash lock or some other type of latch. Very nice.
