Beautiful coins Capt.
I`m guessing those gophers help loosen up the soil a bit.
Thanks, B|lker. They loosen the soil some, but more importantly, they bring up old, old dirt to the surface.
Right on Dan! Those are some nice silver coins there! The Buffalo nickel nice is a great treasure too!
I'm sure that "Silver Park" will give you at least 12 more pieces of silver so you can reach your goal! Piece of cake!
8^)
Thanks, Neil! It's getting tougher and tougher. I'm really happy just to get one there each time I detect it.
Dan,
Man, the silver sure keeps flowing for you. Congrats!! Keep up the great work.
BTW, did you clean your buffalo, and if so, what did you do? I've found a couple this week, but they're a very dark red/brown. Got any tips to share?
I can't wait to get out again, but we had four inches of snow Saturday, and it keeps raining/sleeting/blowing.... Cry
Keep the passion high, my friend!
HH,
Dr. Ace
Thanks, Bruce. I just dipped my buffalo in a solution of white distilled vinegar and a little salt. I left the coil alone for about an hour. Then I took it out and rubbed a little baking soda on it to take all the red coloring off. I hope that bad weather lifts soon for you.
Wow!! Amazing number of silver finds again Dan. thumbsup I would have to agree also, there is a lot of silver being found.
Well done.
Big E
Emil
Thanks, Big E. Congrats, again on that '14 D wheat!

Thanks, Gary! Yeah, the buffalo was a complete luck find. Sitting just underneath the gopher dirt mound. At least I was smart enough to check the mound. Good luck on your next hunt!!
Nice day of silver Dan. If I was a gambler, I bet you reach that 250 goal. HH
JDD
Thanks, JDD. I'm hoping you're right!!

Great post with lots of silver. Be a nice guy and leave some for the rest of us. All I can seem to find is memorials and pull tabs. Or once you get it all found walk around and throw it back out there so we can find it too.
HH,
Dave
Thanks, Dave. Keep plugging away. There's got to be silver in your area. Try a new spot, change your machine, go out with a buddy who's finding them...do anything you can.
more great finds dan wtg

Thanks, Ron. I just dipped the nickel in a solution of white distilled vinegar and salt for about an hour. Then I rubbed a little baking soda on it to take the reddish color off.

What a hunt. That's all I ever say about your finds, Dan

50 Wheats. I need to get busy

Nice shinny coinage too. I didn't see any cut coins this time
Thanks, Ron. Wheats to you are like zinc pennies.

You're in Injun county there....seateds, barbers, and Injuns are what we expect from you, but you still gotta find them.

Nice finds Dan. I bet there's more than 12 left there with your name on them. In fact...i say you will end up pulling 300 out of there.
Thanks, Bryce. I don't think I'll get to 300 there. No other spots will produce that amount, except maybe the hillsides, which are really overgrown right now. I'll have to wait til the summertime to see for sure.

Incredible! It's amazing that you are still getting silver from that one park! WTG!!

Thanks for posting! You give us "normal" hunters hope!
You really seem to know your SE and surroundings very well! One can only imagine what you would find say on the east coast or better yet overseas where the coins are older and potentially deeper! If you don't mind me asking a couple of questions.... What coil(s) have you been using for these recent hunts? How deep were these coins and do you skip the shallower ones? Ok, I'll stop now!
Thanks, Butler! I've spent a lot of time in the field detecting with my SE for the past two years. What works best for me might not work the best for someone else. Many folks I talk to say they can't stand the sounds the Explorers make...too confusing or too hard on the ears. They prefer single tone. To me, it's sweet music. I never knew how many old coins were still left in the ground around me if I didn't try a different machine. The coil I have used about 100% of the time since I purchased it back in Jun. '08 is the Pro Coil. It's awesome. Most of the older coins I've been finding are in the 6-9+" range. Many are hiding next to or underneath pieces of trash(rusty bottlecaps, foil, shallower clad, iron, etc.). That's why they have remained so elusive over the years. They're being partially masked. I skip over shallow penny/dime signals, but dig all quarter signals. About 80% of the time, I can tell the difference between a shallow clad dime and a silver dime. The pitch and the ID are slightly higher on the silver dime. When I'm in an area of lots of gopher activity, I try not to pass up any shallow penny/dime signals.

Way to go Dan!
I'm sure there at least 12 more silver coins there in your silver park with your name on them
In fact, I'd be surprised if you didn't end up finding 350 silver coins from that one park.
Keep it up!
Jim
Thanks, Jim. I'm going to be real lucky to get the last 12 from there. That's how pounded this place is. It's not going to be easy, but I'll have lots of fun trying!
