I was at the Washington Coast yesterday and this morning. I got so frustrated with the way my machine was responding to the black sand (see post in Beach & Shallow Water), that I just left. While going back to the house I noticed a playground full of both sand and kids. Ever the optimist I was back at the playground at 7a this morning. It was the same black sand but with a few adjustments and by digging absolutely everything I managed to scoop up 104 coins ($6.14) and the letter B, in 2.5 hours.
