10K GOLD FIND- BUT WHAT DOES IT REPRESENT?

Here's a photo of a pin I found on the beach in Boca Raton over the weekend.It's marked 10k on the back.There's a 5 on the bottom of the face as you can see,that would indicate 5 years of service or something.Just can't find out what for.Anyone know what this shield or symbol represents? They seem like catholic symbols to me,am I wrong?Comments appreciated...................diggummup

A few clues: It does look like a lapel pin for a fraternal organization such as the Knights of Malta.
10k is likeley American. Inm the UK and Ireland, you would find 9k. It isn't Knights Templar either. Interesting pin though.

Okay,I researched this some more and went back to the source.I found this on the beach in Boca so that's where I started.I found out that it is either a 5 year membership or a 5 year employee pin from the Boca Resort & Country Club.I would tend to think it's probably a member pin since it's 10k,however this is a very upscale club so it could be for an employee.Here's the link:www.bocaresort.com check out the symbol in the upper left corner of the page. diggummup
