12-27-2007's pennies and nickels and halves
As I have the week off I have been doig small daily runs locally.
Yesterday as I was cashing in rejects I asked for halves like I usually do. I was surprised when they said they had $470 in customer turned in halves. Usually halves at this bank are run through the machine so I suspected someone's dump. They said they had actually been turned in by two individuals. Once again, interesting. Sounds like some more local competition.
Bought them anyway and did a quick edge search. Apparently they missed 2 - 40% (1966, 1967)
Cashed those in and stopped by a couple of other local branches but to little avail on halves. An additional $3.50 produced only another 40% (1968-D).
Total halves searched: $474 worth.
At my last stop I picked up a $50 bag of pennies and a $200 bag of nickels.
The nickels were okay.

1 Proof Jefferson (2006-S)
16 Canadian (1968, 1973, 1976, 1978, 1979(3), 1983, 1986, 1987, 1989, 1993, 1994, 1996, 1998, 2003-P)
4 Foreign (Great Britain, 1 New Penny (1977, 1998(2)), Phillipines, 25 Sentimos (1977))
1 Fake Penny
The pennies had:
20 wheat pennies (1934, 1939, 1940-S, 1941, 1944-S, 1945, 1947-S, 1948-D, 1953-D(2), 1954-D(2), 1955, 1955-D, 1957-D(5), 1958-D)
24 Canadian (1958, 1965, 1966, 1967, 1969, 1971, 1975, 1976, 1978, 1980(2), 1981(3), 1983(3), 1987(2), 1988, 1989, 1997, 2001, 2004)
1 Foreign (Switzerland, 10 Rappen (1993))
When I found the 2006-S proof nickel, I know someone cashed a 2006 silver proof set through the machine as I found the 2006-S Silver Proof dime the other day, but apparently I missed the penny bag with the proof penny and the quarter bag with the proof quarters. Been waiting forever for the half dollar bag to fill up, hopefully I won't miss that. Last time I checked it was about $850 away still. I might even have to buy the dollar bag for a change since I know there should be something in it.
