Joined this site last night and dont you know it this morning I went and picked up $200 in CW dimes at a local bank.

Got in my car and I see a mercury at the end. Unwrap other side and its a silver Roosie. Unwrap (in the parking lot) to find 80% silver mixed Mercury/Roosie. Open a few more rolls and inside are mixed 2-6 silver dimes each roll. 2nd to last roll was 100% silver!!

Final total:

51 silver roosevelts
57 mercury dimes

I went back in and purchased every CW quarter/nickel/penny the teller had.....will post any additional results!

I took pictures but I couldn't upload them, said the photo's were too large....

Maybe this website is my good luck charm!

Nice scores! My only problem is that you called cents "pennies." They are not interchangeable, American coins are cents, not pennies and pence like in Britain.

Wow! you're doing something right! Congrats.

Im in Rhode Island. I will keep in mind the penny/cents lingo, don't want to upset the locals!!

Crap in the 10+ days since:

2 - 40% in 3 boxes
4 - roosies in about $1100 cwr/mwr
1 - war nickel in $160 searched

Traded 17 40% for 2 2013 ASE's today, still have about $50 in CENTS to sort, man do I hate sorting CENTS!! Did open up another bank account today, BOA, that should help me with my dumps.

Have a nice weekend!

Does it honestly matter? We know they are technically called cents but when he said pennies, you knew what he was talking about. You did not think he actually bought British coins. It's like if we corrected people for saying Mercs and corrected them with winged liberties.

It's different. The Mercury dime is a shorter form of the Winged Liberty dime. If you wanted to talk all fancy, you could say "Winged Liberty 10 cent piece," which is correct but unnecessary. The US never produced pennies. It is a really bad name for them, and numismatically, they should not be referred to as such.

Numismatically, yes, they should be called cents. But outside of the coin world, people would give you some funky looks if you said cents. To me, it doesn't matter which one someone says because I know what they are talking about whether they say cents or pennies.

So I am guessing the rolls of cents you all get do not look like the ones I get here in Michigan. These are CWR's from a couple of different banks close to where I live. The paper rolls came from whatever local store sells them for people to use for their coins.

Like most other words that make it in our American language, widespread use will determine its outcome. So I think pennies are here to stay. I remember as a child the teachers in elementary trying to stamp out the word "ain't" because it was not proper. We kids then used to say "Ain't ain't a word" and the teachers were not happy. I believe it is an accepted word now-a-days.

Congrats on all of the good finds to all of the above posters by the way.
