14 Copper and multi silver hunt at PA cabin site

An exciting hunt from last week. Took a friend
to the cabin site Ive been working on and we got into a hotspot that ended up giving a total of 14 coppers and a half real along with some good relics including scribed silver cuff link. The coppers gave us 3 firsts with a Vermont Copper, Liberty Cap thick planchet, and an Irish KG2. Everything was in a 6x10 area and very deep for the most part.

Jeff - Indeed could have been some type of establishment. It was honestly a hunch based on the terrain and trace of an old wagon road in the area. I haven't seen the exact spot indicated on any of my maps, which would account for the virginity of the place. *POP!*

That's awesome. I have one site that this one reminds me of. Several big coppers out of there and probably 50 buttons between a friend and I and I know there's more, but the nail bed there is INSANE. I usually go through it with sweeps taking one second per foot if not slower (which is slow even by Minelab standards). Can't wait to get back though as soon as the field is mowed! Was the old wagon road on a map or did you stumble onto it? That's great because there have to have been other establishments on the road.

I have tried trenching my site a couple of times with limited results, but everything I've found so far has been within 4" of the surface....dating back to the late 1700s it seems like there should definitely be deeper stuff there.

That is one very old site to have found. You have pulled a lot of coins out of there also. Incredible. Thanks for sharing

What an amazing array of coppers! Sounds like you guys are on a great site. If they were all in the same small area, maybe it was a cache or a pretty big pocket (full) spill.

As a matter of fact, one of the buttons was a script I War of 1812 infantry button Scrappy
