144 pennies,3 dimes,2 nickels, and a wheat cent in 3 foot area. The pile is all from the hole. Also got a 1915,1917.and 1918 wheat cents elsewhere. Not big on clad but big drops are cool.

And by the way for you new people.A standard 4 foot spade is not a digging tool for a park.People freak when they see them. And they cannot make a neat hole or plug.I could not believe I saw someone out in a park with one today.I chated with him and made a few suggestions.

Amazing! About 30 years ago I also found 144 pennies in one drop. Bravo on your comment about a 4' shovel in a public park. I've been doing this a long time and I could probably make a very neat hole with a 4' spade, but just carrying one in a park will quickly get the police or parks department called. With that said, everyone else going out with a Lesche or some other digger, if you are not cutting neat holes and repairing them so they can't be seen you might as well use a backhoe.

holy clad batman!

Have yet to find that big of a drop think around 100 is my biggest so far, that was enough to tire me out, from digging it out of the gravel !

You are pretty much right, most people toting along a large shovel leave large holes, sometimes not so easy to fill. I usually take along one of these, The Piranha which make a nice plug and for and easily filled in hole. It DOES however give a bad impression when in a public park, when lots of people are around, when they see it. In the interest of not raising public ire, I usually leave it in the car and take the hand held digger I have. Looks less "destructive" to the general public and park officials!
