I went detecting with a buddy this weekend and we hit an abandoned park and some sort of old rail stop. The place near the railroad tracks was covered in little bits and pieces of iron and crushed cans. The old park was a lot of fun and we found all sorts of stuff. I picked up a couple bucks in clad, various caliber spent shells, pull tabs by the bucket load and a 20" silver colored cuban link necklace, stamped 14k Italy. Had my blood pumping. I was about as anxious as a one eyed cat watching two rat holes. Immediately I thought, "this is too big to be real". Upon closer inspection of the high friction areas, I could see a reddish tint under the silver and then a dull yellow brass color underneath that. DANG! Afterall, I was born off Murphy Creek Road in Murphy, Oregon. I knew ol' Murph wouldn't let me get by with one that big! Guy at the pawn shop wouldn't even look at it, let alone scratch it for me. I know it's fake, but I would still like to just make darn sure. Cheers, here's to finding the big one!
